New York City, NY – Linsanity may be at its end for the year. The New York Knicks have been told they will be without their all-star point guard, Jeremy Lin , for the next six weeks. Lin has been diagnosed with a chronic meniscus tear in his right knee.

This means that unless the Knicks make it to the finals in the playoffs this will effectively end Lin’s amazing season, which saw him rise from a back bencher to the center of the world in New York. The Knicks regular season ends on April 26th.

Doubts also remain as to whether Amare Stoudemire will return from the bulging disc injury in his lower back that has him out indefinitely. Knicks coach Mike Woodson said he was not sure when he would have either player back before it was known that Lin would be out extended time.

Woodson told the New York media,

“I have no idea when these guys are going to return, if they’re going to return,”

Lin has missed the last four games because of the knee injury. The Knicks have won eight of 10 since Woodson took over the team from Mike D’Antoni.

With Lin out, Baron Davis will do his best to start for the Knicks as point guard butt will see limited playing time due to a sore hamstring. Rookie Iman Shumpert and veteran Mike Bibby will also handle the point guard position.

Lin averaged 14.6 points and 6.1 assists in 35 games this season, which saw him explode on the scene in New York.
