Fans have been waiting to hear the release date of Rihanna’s highly-anticipated R8 album. The album doesn’t even have a name yet! The album’s title, R8 , was just the name that fans created and started on social media. Now, it looks like Rihanna’s new album will have a completely different direction and an even later release date.

Rihanna has been teasing fans about her eighth studio album. Fans are now getting some good news and bad news about Rihanna’s secret music project. Rihanna has hinted that the album will be her most experimental, as she wants to create “timeless music.” The pop star is also said to collaborate with a dancehall artist or two.

DJ Dre Skull, founder and producer of Mixpak Records, told The Fader that RiRi is in the search of new artists to collaborate with on her new album.

“I know firsthand and secondhand that she’s been reaching out to a lot of people in the dancehall world. I’m not suggesting it’s gonna be [a dancehall album] but [her people] are excited about dancehall and to work in that sort of context. They’ve reached out to Popcaan, but I’ve talked to a number of people in Jamaica that they’ve reached out to.”

The Boombox also claims that Rihanna will go back to her roots for her new album. She wants to create hit singles like “Pon De Replay” and “Man Down,” while her dancehall tracks will offer fans something that she has never done before in her music career. With the release of Rihanna’s singles like “FourFiveSeconds,” “American Oxygen,” and “B**ch Better Have My Money,” the album is certainly expected to have an eclectic mix of beats.

This news just comes a week after Rihanna was spotted leaving a recording studio with Drake. Their recent sighting sparked rumors that the former exes are collaborating for another chart-topping single on Rihanna’s new album. Rihanna and Drake previously collaborated for their hit singles “Take Care” and “What’s My Name.”

Now, here’s some bad news for Rihanna fans. The singer doesn’t have any intentions of releasing her R8 album until she absolutely, 100 percent “believes in it.” This past Sunday, a fan asked the singer about the release date of her new album. The fan also shared the conversation s/he had with RiRi on Twitter.

It looks like Rihanna’s new album isn’t coming out anytime soon. The singer has been making many different choices in her career lately. It was previously reported on the Inquisitr that Rihanna is looking to start her own fashion magazine. She also wants to create a fashion and beauty empire in case her music career doesn’t work out. Rihanna is currently in a fight over DC Comics over the trademark of her first name “Robyn.”
