Kylie Minogue, the Australian actress and songstress who also appears in the upcoming disaster movie San Andreas alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is perhaps as well known for certain portion of her anatomy as she is for hits such as “Spinning Around” and “Sexercize,” or her breakout role on the Aussie soap opera, Neighbours .
Now, the 46-year-old pop icon has offered a theory as to why her buttocks continue to attract attention, and to seemingly defy the effects of gravity and age, even though she turns 47 on May 28.
Her answer: it’s all about the high heels . That, and friendly lighting in her photo shoots. But her behind has been the focus of so much commentary and admiration that she says she has a hard time believing it is actually a part of her own body.
“I think of it as something entirely separate to me. Probably the reason for it is the fact I’ve spent most of my adult life dancing around in very high heels,” she said in an interview over the weekend. “If I’m ever honestly asked to explain my job I’d say I was a high-heel stunt woman.”
But even though she claims that her derriere is effectively a star all on its own, she has not been shy about utilizing its particular assets to her best commercial advantage, as in her 2014 video for “Sexercize.”
As that video perhaps displays, she always takes care to ensure that her posterior receives proper attention from the lighting crew.
“I always make sure I am best friends with the lighting man on any shoot I do,” said the “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” singer, who remains single despite being linked to several high-profile romantic partners throughout her career, including musician Lenny Kravitz and her Neighbours co-star, Jason Donovan.
She told Event Magazine that she now believes her lack of a long-lasting relationship may be due to her preference for extremely handsome men — a preference which she says she has now re-evaluated.
“I don’t mind grey hair, I don’t mind bald or balding. I don’t even mind a bit of a paunch,” she said, providing hope to “dad-bod” sporting males worldwide. “Maybe too good-looking is where I’ve been going wrong!”
Kylie Minogue called herself “a romantic” and said in the Event interview, ”I’m putting it out there. I would like to find someone.”
