The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 7 reunion show was a very emotional one for NeNe Leakes. She broke down when the subject of her mother came up and eventually walked off the stage. She didn’t come back until she had spent some time composing herself in her dressing room. In her latest blog post, posted on her personal website on Monday, NeNe talked about her mother and her co-stars’ support.
When NeNe was in her dressing room after walking off the set, her husband, Gregg Leakes, told host Andy Cohen that NeNe was so emotional over her mother because her mother, unable to take care of five children, sent her and a brother to live with an aunt. Her mom continued to take care of the other three children.
In her blog, NeNe said that she loves her mother and now understands why she did what she did.
“I am not an abandoned woman! I am not a victim! I love my mother with every inch of me and I’m sure she wanted more for me than she could offer at the time! I didn’t understand that as a young girl but I understand that as a mother today!”
NeNe also dedicated a portion of her blog to thanking some of her The Real Housewives of Atlanta co-stars. While it’s not surprising that NeNe would thank Phaedra Parks and Porsha Williams, since she bonded with both women on season 7, what is surprising is that she thanked Cynthia Bailey and Claudia Jordan.
NeNe’s friendship with Cynthia, which both acknowledged to be a real and genuine friendship that existed outside of the show, blew up at the season 6 reunion show, during which NeNe felt blindsided by Cynthia still being mad about her calling Peter Thomas a “b***h.” NeNe felt that Cynthia was just using it as a storyline. As for Claudia, the two got into several heated arguments on season 7, with the most vicious one perhaps being the argument in Puerto Rico where NeNe called Claudia a “half-breed” and Claudia brought up NeNe’s stripper past.
NeNe wrote on her blog that she’s moving forward with Cynthia and Claudia. NeNe revealed that she and Cynthia communicated after the reunion show filmed and that Claudia kept her word about something. Yet NeNe made clear that while she’ll let go of what happened in the past, she won’t be friends with the two.
“Moving forward for me doesn’t mean having a friendship It just means that I’m past the bullshit & some people need the bullshit to survive on this show. I don’t! Cynthia We had our little chat that day and we have texted since then but again thank you! Claudia Thank you for keeping your word after we spoke. Phaedra and Porsha you guys have been just amazing all season long and you continue to be.”
NeNe also wrote that while she reached out to the majority of the ladies after the reunion to thank them for their support and kindness over her breakdown, she “find[s] it hard to believe that some of their intentions were genuine and sincere!”
So will NeNe Leakes continue on with The Real Housewives of Atlanta ? As previously reported by the Inquisitr , NeNe, about two weeks ago, said that she doesn’t want to do a season 8 if the cast remains the same because some of them are desperate. Was she referring to Claudia Jordan and Cynthia Bailey?
