The unveiling of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana’s name earlier this week was met with widespread joy by Royal enthusiasts who were overjoyed to see that Kate Middleton and Prince William had decided to honor the late Princess of Wales.

But why did the pair decide not to name their daughter after Prince William’s mother, rather than just honoring her with a middle-name? Well, it turns out that the pair didn’t want to burden their daughter with constant comparisons to the beloved Princess Diana, and instead simply wanted to pay homage to her without putting undue pressure on their daughter. This is why it’s perfectly placed to be the last of Charlotte’s three names.

A royal insider told Hollywood Life , “They never wanted to name the princess Diana because there was obviously too much that would come with that in comparison. They want her to have her own life, her own story.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton also paid tribute to Prince Charles, William’s father, and the heir to the English monarch, and Kate’s sister Pippa, with the first name Charlotte, as it is the feminine form of Charles and is Pippa’s middle name.

Meanwhile, the name Elizabeth was picked as a reference to William’s grandmother and great-grandmother, while it’s also both Kate and her mother Carole’s middle-name, and was the first name of Kate’s maternal great-grandmother and her great-great-grandmother.

Meanwhile, India Hicks, the cousin of Prince Charles who was also Princess Diana’s bridesmaid, has told People that she doesn’t think that Princess Charlotte will be the last child for Prince William and Kate Middleton.

“I think Kate and William could have the perfect ending with a boy and girl. But I suspect they won’t stop there.”

Meanwhile another insider told the aforementioned publication, “I would put money on them having more.”

Kate Middleton and Prince William took Prince George and Princess Charlotte back to their Norfolk mansion Anmer Hall earlier on Wednesday as they begin to adjust to life as a quartet.

It’s also been speculated that Carole Middleton will assist Kate Middleton over the next few weeks, while Prince William is also not returning to work until the start of June. Carole and William’s assistance means that the Duchess of Cambridge has decided against hiring a second nanny.

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born on Saturday morning at the Lindo Wing in St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London.
