Britney had an ankle scare during her Las Vegas show Piece Of Me on Wednesday night. According to People Magazine , the pop star fell while performing, apparently twisting her ankle while in the middle of a dance sequence. The 33-year-old mother of two was performing “(You Drive Me) Crazy” when she fell to the stage, and sort of just sat there for a moment.

The clip of the fall that has been circulating online doesn’t show Britney jumping right back up, so many fans were worried that she really injured herself. However, she took to Twitter shortly after to let her fans know that she is okay.

Thank you for all of the sweet wishes! Had a little scare on stage tonight with my ankle but I’m ok!

Britney Spears’ ankle scare could have been far worse. If she actually twisted her ankle, or broke it, it could have meant a serious hiatus from her show at Planet Hollywood. Britney fans might remember a situation all too familiar when she hurt her knee in the middle of her Onyx Hotel Tour back in 2004. Brit was forced to cancel the remainder of her shows after getting injured while filming a music video. She underwent surgery, and was sidelined for several weeks.

According to E! News , Britney’s fall was touch and go for a few seconds , but she ultimately jumped back up, and was able to keep performing.

“She immediately grabbed her foot and appeared to be in quite a bit of pain—but managed to continue singing along throughout the entire ordeal! It took a little bit for Spears to get herself back up after the fall, with a few of her dancers’ help, but she continued on to her next song without missing a beat.”

Aside from Britney’s ankle scare, the blonde beauty is getting ready to release her latest track, a single titled “Pretty Girls.” The song features Iggy Azalea, and is already set to be the “song of the summer.” As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Britney and Iggy filmed a fun 80’s inspired music video for the track, and the two women will be performing it together at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday May 17.

Bustle reports that there may be a “ big surprise ” in store for that performance.

“It’s something that’s never been attempted before at an awards show. But if it can be pulled off, people will be talking about it for months.”

“Pretty Girls” is set to be released on May 4.

Update: Britney has announced that she will not perform on Friday or Saturday night following the fall.
