Gary Shirley was put in his place by Amber Portwood during a recent episode of Teen Mom OG . During the new season of the MTV reality show, Gary Shirley has been seen having an awkward encounter with his ex-girlfriend, Portwood, and current pregnant girlfriend, Kristina Anderson, as well as an intense conversation about his baby news. However, it was his latest discussion with Portwood that pushed the former couple over the edge.

While discussing a slew of allegedly inappropriate text messages sent to Portwood by Gary Shirley, the two engaged in a heated battle, which included tears from Shirley. Although the moment was emotional, Portwood has no regrets, as she was finally able to get through to her daughter’s father.

During an April 23 Teen Mom OG: Featured Moment , via MTV News , Portwood explained her decision .

“I was confused. I was sad. I was… I didn’t understand how he thinks. I couldn’t understand it. I wanted him to come over and I wanted to talk to him face-to-face, and say, ‘This is done. This has to stop. You know what you are doing. Lets just stop.’ And I think when I made that decision was after he called me crying. I hate that it took that to get it through his head, but I can say, though, that after that incident he finally kind of stopped. I mean, he did. He’s kind of stopped texting, and he’s kind of stopped calling.”

After her prison release in November of 2013, Portwood was hoping for a reconciliation with Gary Shirley and was shocked to discover he was dating Anderson. However, as the currently airing season of Teen Mom OG has revealed, Gary Shirley appeared to have second thoughts about moving on and continued to contact Portwood, which understandably made it difficult for the reality star to move on.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Portwood eventually did move on and is now engaged to Matthew Baier. In an interview with OK! Magazine , Portwood explained it was difficult to move forward from her relationship with Gary Shirley.

“It was just really hard to move forward with somebody and trust another man and actually feel like I can love another person. I never thought I’d find somebody that I loved more than Gary, and obviously I was wrong.”

To see the rest of Portwood’s thoughts on Gary Shirley, check out the video clip below, and tune into new episodes of Teen Mom OG on Monday nights at 10 p.m. on MTV.
