WWE News: Triple-Threat WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match Rumored To Headline Next Month’s ‘Payback’

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be defended at this Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, when the champion Seth Rollins defends against Randy Orton inside of a steel cage with Kane as the special guest enforcer, or “guardian of the gate,” as Triple H said on last night’s RAW . Most WWE fans are now predicting that Kane will get involved in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match this Sunday, cause Randy Orton to lose, and it will then be revealed that the onscreen tension between Kane and Rollins was just a ruse.

The finish to this Sunday’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship match will almost certainly call for a rematch at the following pay-per-view. According to Wrestling News , it appears that WWE will give Orton a rematch, but, not a one-on-one rematch, as it’s expected that Seth Rollins will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a triple-threat match against Randy Orton and Roman Reigns at next month’s Payback pay-per-view.

It’s expected that Roman Reigns will win his last man standing match against Big Show this Sunday, which will possibly put an end to the feud between the two. However, Reigns and Big Show are booked on house shows against each other until June, which could mean this feud will continue until then; however, Reigns’ feud with Big Show hasn’t gotten the kind of reaction WWE has hoped for, so it’s possible that they could put Roman with someone else.

On top of the rumor of Reigns being put in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Payback , there has been some speculation that he’ll begin a feud with Bray Wyatt after this Sunday’s pay-per-view. However, it appears that Wyatt’s mystery man is none other than Ryback, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer . Meltzer also reported that WWE is thinking about beginning a Roman Reigns vs. Kane feud after this Sunday, which likely wouldn’t do any better than Reigns’ feud with Big Show has done.

As of right now, the plan is for Seth Rollins to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday, but, everything in WWE is subject to change. As of right now, WWE is extremely happy with Rollins as champion, and they like the idea of Randy Orton and Roman Reigns chasing him. So, the idea of Kane screwing Orton out of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday is the most likely scenario.
