Katie Hamilton may not be due to make her Real Housewives of Orange County debut until June, but already, the new Bravo reality star is in the midst of controversy. Earlier this year, her husband, Josh, reportedly suffered a drug relapse, and now, it has been revealed that Josh filed for divorce from Katie Hamilton two months ago.
On April 18, The Dallas Morning News confirmed Katie Hamilton’s husband filed court documents to end his marriage in February, around the time reports of his alleged relapse were made public.
Katie Hamilton married Josh in 2004, and the couple has four children together, ages 3 to 14.
According to the report, Katie Hamilton’s husband didn’t reveal many details about the reason behind their split, but he did note “conflict” within the marriage and outlined 34 specific requests in his petition.
“Prohibit her from using the Maserati and 1972 Chevrolet Blazer in his possession; prohibit her from ‘hiding’ the children from him; prohibit her from making disparaging remarks against him or his family; prohibit someone who has an intimate relationship with her from staying in the same home as the children overnight.”
In March, as per The Dallas Morning News , Katie Hamilton submitted her response to Josh’s paperwork, denying his general requests. Then, this month, the couple agreed to cease all communication with one another until they are due back in court.
At this point, Josh is unable to see his children without supervision, and is also restricted from going to his properties with Katie Hamilton, including their homes in Westlake, Texas; Newport Coast, California; and Valley Mills, Texas.
Josh and Katie Hamilton’s home in Newport was put on the market for $16.5 million on Friday.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, reports of Katie Hamilton’s impending divorce first hit the web in early March. At the time, a source told Yahoo Sports! that Josh had relapsed and ended up at a strip club .
“Hamilton has told people his latest spiral began around Super Bowl weekend after a fight with his wife. Because he cannot carry cash or credit cards, Hamilton wrote himself a check to cash. He wound up at a strip club and used cocaine.”
For more Katie Hamilton, tune into The Real Housewives of Orange County on June 1 at 9 p.m. on Bravo. At this point, it is unknown whether or not Hamilton will be featured on the series in a full-time role.
