Ben & Jerry’s BRRR-ito: Like The Choco Taco, Only Bigger

Ben & Jerry’s BRRR-ito (aka “ice cream burrito”) is coming your way on April 20, according to a new ad that parodies the classic 1984 Apple Computers Super Bowl ad.

“On April 20th, Ben & Jerry’s will introduce the BRRR-ito. And you’ll see why 4.20 will be exactly like ‘4.20,’” the ad reads.

As Slate points out , the BRRR-ito is reminiscent of the Taco Bell Choco Taco, only bigger (and presumably yummier).

It consists of two scoops of ice cream with fudge drizzled over them and cookie crumbs sprinkled on top. This combination is then rolled in to a soft, chewy waffle shell for a diabetic nightmare that you’ll be able to get at Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops across the country.

“We have created a wrap that has all the ridgey goodness of their more crispy cousins — yet are slightly less sweet and provide the chewy satisfaction of the BRRR-ito eating experience,” said Alison Gilbert, Ben & Jerry’s senior brand manager of scoop shops, in a press release .

Unfortunately, if you don’t have a Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop in your vicinity, you won’t be able to benefit from it the way that others will.

Of course, the flip side of that is you’ll probably live longer and have far fewer ice cream headaches.

Contrasting the icy-cold goodness of what this BRRR-ito is sure to taste like, the social media response has proven to be a pretty warm reception.

“I have to admit that I’m tempted,” said one commenter, adding “I’d be even more tempted if you could choose the ice cream filling.”

Following this line of thought, others suggested “bacon flavored ice cream; salsa flavored ice cream; bean, sour cream, advocado, Mexican-style rice or plain rice, refried beans or beans, lettuce, salsa, meat, guacamole, cheese, and sour cream, flavored ice cream!”

Running with the Mexican food motif and all, just because Ben & Jerry’s is one of the only ice cream companies out there zany enough to do it.

Other commenters weren’t so sure that the idea wasn’t stolen directly from their brains.

“I use to make my own by just popping 2 waffles in a toaster and then opening up a box of ice cream and slicing a piece and making my own ice cream sandwich. It was super delicious. The waffle was toasty warm and the ice cream was super cold. Mmmm.”

What about you, readers? Will you be lining up for the Ben & Jerry’s BRRR-ito on April 20?
