WWE News: Jim Ross Comments On A Possible WWE Return

When professional wrestling fans talk about the greatest wrestling announcers in the history of the business, one man stands head and shoulders above the rest, and that man is WWE Hall of Famer “Good ‘Ole JR” Jim Ross. Unfortunately, due to an incident during the weekend of SummerSlam in 2013, Ross is no longer with WWE. However, during WrestleMania weekend, there were multiple reports that WWE now wants to bring Ross back to the company.

JR has had an up and down relationship with WWE since he began his career there in 1993. But, since his firing from the company two years ago, Ross hasn’t had a whole lot of bad things to say about his former employer. He’s remained positive and has had plenty of success during his time away from WWE, as he hosts his own weekly podcast — The Ross Report — and is touring around the country doing his one-man show.

Speaking of Ross’s one-man show, he did an interview with ABC News in Baltimore, Maryland, to promote his one-man show, and he was asked if he would ever return to WWE . Ross responded by saying that he would “never say never.”

“Everyone thinks I just walked away from WWE. But it takes two to make a deal. You never say never in this business. If the right deal is there, I’ll hear what anyone has to say. But right now, I’m really enjoying what I’m doing and can’t wait to meet the fans in Baltimore.”

At this point in his life, Ross — who is 63-years-old — isn’t interested in doing regular commentary on a weekly professional wrestling show. However, it does seem like he’s interested in sporadically doing commentary, as he’s done play-by-play for New Japan Pro Wrestling and for lower-level boxing and MMA fights.

When Michael Cole got taken out by Brock Lesnar on the post- WrestleMania RAW , there were several people hoping that JR would be Cole’s temporary replacement. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, as WWE threw Byron Saxton to the wolves, and he didn’t fare too well. Nobody knows exactly when Cole will be back, but to think Ross will take over for Cole or Saxton in the near-future would be wishful thinking. But, like JR said, you should never say never in the pro wrestling business, and maybe we’ll see “Good ‘Ole JR” back at the announced desk sooner rather than later.
