Philip Seymour Hoffman in Negotiations for “A Most Wanted Man”

Philip Seymour Hoffman is a busy man lately. He was in two high profiled films this year, “The Ides of March” and “Moneyball”. Now according to the Hollywood Reporter he’s in negotiations to star in thriller “A Most Wanted Man.”

The project, which is to be helmed by director Anton Corbihn (“The American”, “Control”) is based on 2008 novel by Andrew Bovel, which is to be adapted to a screenplay.

A Most Wanted Man is set in Hamburg, Germany and follows a mysterious Chechen/Russian man on the run. He arrives to an Islamic community looking for help his late father’s fortune.

Philip Seymore Hoffan is looking to play a chief covert spy from the unit in Germany who works undercover to solve the mystery of said man’s identity.

The producers who have signed on are Gail Egan (“The Constant Gardener) and Andrea Calderwood (“The Last King of Scotland), in addition to Stephen and Simon Cornwell under Ink Factor, and Malte Grunert of Amusement Park Film. Film 4’s Tessa Ross is also set to produce as well.

The project is to begin filming in Hamburg, German September of 2012, and FilmNation Entertainment is handling worldwide sales for the film
