Another day, another Supergirl cast announcement. Grey’s Anatomy’s Chyler Leigh (Meredith’s half sister Lexie), is making her way to the CW superhero show.

Chyler Leigh seemed pretty comfortable playing a doctor for six years on the hit ABC show, and now she’ll be able to play another one on Supergirl .

Leigh will play Kara’s sister, Alexandra “Alex” Danvers. According to E!, her character decided to become a doctor due to her early obsession with her foster sister’s supernatural powers. So it doesn’t look like Chyler Leigh will be operating in the OR anytime soon, but at least fans of Grey’s Anatomy will be able to check her out as a doctor if they miss seeing Leigh on a weekly basis.

A few days ago, the Inquisitr reported Brothers & Sisters actress Calista Flockhart’s addition to the cast. Flockhart was cast as Cat Grant, Kara’s alter ego and her boss of CatCo. In addition to Flockhart and Leigh, Selfie alum David Harewood is joining the cast as Hank Henshaw. E! described the role as “a onetime CIA agent who now runs the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), which tracks extraterrestrial threats on the planet Earth. For those not well-versed in DC comics history, Hank Henshaw is famous in the comics for being Cyborg Superman.”

As for who will take on the role of Supergirl , the Inquisitr reported that Glee star Melissa Benoist will take on the role of Kara Zor-El. She will play the 24-year-old girl, who’s told to hide her supernatural powers by the Danvers. An unexpected event forces Kara to use her abilities, which starts her Supergirl moniker as she finds herself helping people in need all over the city.

So far, fans seem really excited about the show, and they have reason. This isn’t the only iconic show the CW has taken on. They currently have Arrow , and the Flash , which are doing extremely well. Many fans also remember the successful series Smallville, which featured Tom Welling as Superman/Clark Kent. That series lasted for ten years and earned praise from critics and fans.

@oliviayoungers Ha ha. Thanks. CW really is doing on TV what Marvel did in film, in my opinion. Can’t wait for Supergirl. — Luis Bermudez (@luisbermudez) February 21, 2015
