Jessa Duggar And Ben Seewald Forced To Ditch Adoption Plans For Now

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald surprised 19 Kids and Counting fans when they revealed that they’re going to break Duggar family tradition by using adoption to expand their family. However, Duggar fans will have to wait a while to see if the couple actually fulfills their promise to take in a few children in need.

According to the Duggar Family Blog , Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald are so serious about adoption that they’ve already started researching the process. Unfortunately, they’ve discovered that most adoption agencies require a couple to be married for at least two years before they can adopt. In other words, Jessa will have to get pregnant if she and Ben decide that they want to become parents in the near future.

Because children are so important to the Duggars, it’s hard to imagine Jessa and Ben waiting two years or longer to adopt their first child. Jessa recently told People that she wants to adopt “a lot of kids,” but she might change her mind after she pops out a biological baby or two.

Luckily, Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald are in no big rush to have kids, so they’re giving themselves plenty of time to plan their family and save up money for all the expenses that come along with having a baby. And it’s a good thing that Jessa learned how to penny-pinch from the best — she and Ben might have a hard time supporting a huge family on just one salary.

Ben hopes to become a pastor someday, and preaching isn’t a high-paying gig. According to Payscale, a pastor earns an average salary of about $45,000 per year, so Ben may have to find a second job if he and Jessa want to have a Duggar-sized family. People reports that Ben does have an associate degree in political science , but politics and preaching don’t exactly mix — or at least they’re not supposed to. The Duggars are fans of Mike Huckabee , so perhaps Ben is hoping to follow in the former governor’s footsteps by becoming a preacher before making the move to politics.

While 19 Kids and Counting viewers probably won’t get to watch Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald become parents during this season of the show, they will get to see what the couple did during their honeymoon . The newlyweds reportedly visited Paris, Rome, and Venice after tying the knot last November. Viewers will also get to Ben and Jessa turning Josh Duggar’s old moldy house into their own little love nest.

Do you think Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald will wait two years to adopt their first child, or will they have a biological child before then?
