The Suge Knight investigation may hang on the contents of surveillance video authorities are reviewing. According to Fox News , the video is expected to show who started the altercation between Knight and Cle “Bone” Sloan that left Terry Carter dead and Sloan seriously injured in a hit and run.

The fight between Knight and Sloan is reported to have started on the set of a promotional video for the upcoming Straight Outta Compton movie about the notorious rap group N.W.A., where an argument escalated and Knight was asked to leave the premises. When the men took a break to eat, Suge Knight followed them to Tam’s Burgers, where the fight resumed.

According to the Inquisitr , Lt. John Corina is quoted as saying that witnesses told investigators that after punches were exchanged through the window of Knight’s car, “he puts the truck in drive, drives forward, running over him [Sloan], and then keeps going forward and keeps on driving, and runs over Carter, who is standing in the parking lot, and keeps on going after that.”

Knight’s attorney, James Blatt, said Knight was trying to escape an attack when he accidentally hit and killed his friend, Terry Carter. Blatt claims that Knight was unaware that he had hit anyone as he fled the attack. Police have said they do not believe that Carter was involved in the altercation between Knight and Sloan and, in fact, he may have been trying to break up the fight when he was killed. Knight is currently being held on $2 million bail after turning himself into authorities.

The New York Daily News reports that Knight’s attorney claims the incident at the burger restaurant started because Carter invited him to a reconciliation meeting with Dr. Dre, co-founder of Death Row Records, but that the meeting was really a setup for a beating by his attackers. The only person who could have corroborated the story was Carter, who died from his injuries Thursday night.

Suge Knight has experienced a lot of legal issues and violent altercations over the years. This most recent incident occurred only six months after Knight was shot six times at a club in West Hollywood and in the midst of him facing armed robbery charges along with comedian Kat Williams for stealing a photographer’s camera. If Suge Knight is convicted of the hit and run murder of Terry Carter, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
