According to Fox News , rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of murder due to a fatal hit-and-run incident. If he is found guilty of the crime, Knight could face 30 years in prison.
The co-founder of Death Row Records, Suge Knight, 49, was working on an upcoming film “Straight Outta Compton,” a biopic about the rap group NWA, when an argument erupted Thursday between Knight and actor Cle “Bone” Sloan, 51.
LA Times reported that Knight was attacked by a group of men after the argument took place on set. They even threatened to kill him, “attempting to drag him outside of the vehicle when he made an effort to escape… in fear for his life,” according to Knight’s attorney James Blatt.
Twenty minutes later, the group of men took a break from the set and drove to Tam’s Burgers near Central and East Rosecrans Ave. Police believe that Knight followed the men to the restaurant where the fight continued. Suge Knight remained in his vehicle and exchanged words with Sloan – punches were even thrown through Knights’ open window.
Authorities believe Suge Knights’ friend, Terry Carter, 55, was trying to stop the fight and had nothing to do with the confrontation.
Moments later, Knight “struck Sloan and Carter with his truck,” according to Lt. John Corina. “Then he puts the truck in drive, drives forward, running over him, and then keeps going forward and keeps on driving, and runs over Carter, who is standing in the parking lot, and keeps on going after that.”
Carter was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital while Sloan is in stable condition with unknown injuries.
Knight abandoned his vehicle, which was found by police in a West Los Angeles parking lot late Thursday.

Suge Knight’s attorney insisted the hit-and-run was an accident and that his client acted in self-defense.
“He was in the process of being physically assaulted by two men and in an effort to escape, but he unfortunately hit two [other] individuals. He was in his car trying to escape.”
“He had no knowledge whatsoever he ran over anyone. There’s no damage to Mr. Knight’s car,” Blatt stated. “The investigation is in the very beginning stages. We anticipate him being exonerated.”
However, witnesses spoke with the police and stated the incident seemed intentional.
With a long history of violent acts and crimes, such as aggravated assault, drug possession, nine year imprisonment, and currently awaiting trial on charges of second degree robbery where he and comedian Katt Williams were accused of stealing a camera; if found guilty of murder, he could face 30 years in prison or more.
Suge Knight turned himself in to authorities and was booked on suspicion of murder. He is currently being held at the West Hollywood sheriff’s station on $2 million bail.
