The Walking Dead: New Trailer “This Is How We Survive”

Fans of The Walking Dead were thrilled to preview the newest trailer for the midseason premiere. The second half of season five begins February 8.

The trailer has resident WD hero Rick Grimes trying to assure the remaining survivors: “We do what we need to do and then we get to live.”

It appears there is plenty of walking and plenty of dead in store for this season as well.

And though it may not have the epic flaming zombies of the Fall premiere trailer, it seems the group may find something that has been elusive thus far…hope.

(*Spoiler Alert*–Go no further unless you’re caught up on episodes…) While the Fall finale had its moment of joy in which our haggard survivors were reunited, it also left many reeling with the sudden loss of Beth.

Devastated fans of The Walking Dead did not take Beth’s loss lightly, starting an online petition to bring the beloved character back from the grave. The previous Dead trailer suggested Maggie and Daryl weren’t coping well with her loss either. Fans will be happy to see the two characters doing what they do best in this latest glimpse…whatever it takes to survive.

The thirty second trailer, while reassuring to Walking Dead fans that no one was killed off during the hiatus, may provide more questions than answers, however.

At one point, Michonne seems to be challenging Rick’s authority asking, “Is that what you want? One more day with a chance?” While Tyreese tries to console newest group member Noah, “It’s not over. This isn’t the end.”

And if you’re hoping to find any details from AMC themselves on how the show will play out, it seems you’re out of luck. A recent New York Daily News article indicates that the accompanying press release from the network isn’t giving up much info either:

“Stripped of security and without a direction for the future, some of the group near their breaking point, some find themselves hardened and cold and some just try to grasp on to what little they have left. Though they are still breathing, the line between Rick’s group and the dead is starting to blur. Could there be anything at this point that brings them back to life?”

The Walking Dead enthusiasts were surprised to see a new Rick Grimes emerge at the end of season four, as he utilized a zombie bite technique to rip out an enemy’s jugular with his bare teeth. That pivotal moment saw him transition from peacekeeper to survivor.

But as The Walking Dead fans learn every season, it’s best not to get attached to any characters. Even the survivors, it seems, are the walking dead.

Who do you think will survive this Spring?
