A UFO sighted in a 46-year old NASA photo, taken by the historic Apollo 7 mission in October 1968, appears to be one of the clearest and therefore most alarming images yet spotted of what UFO researchers believe is an alien spacecraft.
While sharp-eyed UFO hunters have picked up what appear to be anomalies in photos from later Apollo missions , and even in shots taken by an earlier NASA Gemini spacecraft , the image found by UFO Sightings Daily editor Scott Waring and posted to his blog Monday may be the most detailed sighting yet found in the space agency’s image library.
And according to Waring’s speculation, NASA must have thought so, too. Because in a subsequent shot from the same photo sequence which may show an even closer view of the UFO, someone appears to have blotted out the possible image of the alleged alien spacecraft with black tape.
Photo alteration was not as easy 46 years ago as it is today, with sophisticated software such as Photoshop.
Apollo 7 was the first manned test mission to prepare for the following year’s moon landings by Apollo 11 in July of 1969 and Apollo 12 in November. Lasting 11 days, the flight became the longest manned space mission by either the United States or the Soviet Union up to that time.
The Apollo 7 crew of Commander Wally Schirra, Walt Cunningham, and Donn Eisele became the first to star in a live TV transmission from space, even though the astronauts who were all stricken with severe head colds — which were extremely uncomfortable because in zero gravity, sinuses do not drain — did not want to take part in the broadcast.
Most importantly, Apollo 7 proved that the latest NASA technology was capable of a prolonged space flight, setting the stage for the world-changing moon missions that followed.
But did Apollo 7 make this secret, potentially Earth-shattering UFO discovery as well? Here is the original NASA image uncovered by Waring.

In fact, the UFO bears an odd resemblance to this, from the original Battlestar Galactica TV series that aired 10 years after the Apollo 7 mission.
Finally, in going through the set of photos available online from the Apollo 7 mission, Waring noticed this one, covered with black tape.
The photo is the last in this sequence.
Is NASA really trying to cover up a clear view of the potentially most shocking UFO image ever seen by humankind? No one from NASA has so far volunteered to peel back the tape.
