California firefighters spent two hours breaking down a chimney on Saturday, in an attempt to free a naked woman who was stuck inside.

In the early morning hours, Tony Hernandez was greeted by two bare feet dangling out of his fireplace. He later discovered that the feet belonged to his 35-year-old ex-girlfriend and mother of his three children.

According to CBS Los Angeles , the woman had tried around 5 a.m. to open the door in the 15800 block of Rancho Viejo Drive. When she found it locked, she climbed to the roof and attempted to get in through the chimney. That’s when she became wedged inside the 12-by-12-inch chimney. She had apparently removed her clothes to aid her descent.

Hernandez said he awoke to her cries for help, and tried to get her out with an extension cord.

“She said, ‘I’m trapped in the chimney.’ So I tried to get her out but it was too hard.”

Firefighters came and helped free the woman after a two-hour operation that involved breaking the fireplace open.

They posted pictures on Twitter of the rescue in Rancho Viejo Drive, Woodcrest , showing the woman’s legs dangling, covered in soot, behind a hole in the fireplace.

Hernandez said he nearly fell off the roof trying to rescue her, and that’s when he called 911 . The woman is reportedly no longer living at the house, and is not permitted to visit.

“I don’t like the way she’s acting or what she’s doing,” the father stated. “That’s not good for my kids.”

Once freed, the woman was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries and is expected to be okay. Hernandez said he believes she tried to get in through the chimney because of the cold temperatures outside.

She is said to occasionally stop by the house to see their children – who were coincidentally not at home at the time of the incident.

A somewhat similar ordeal occurred last October, when 30-year-old Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa, a resident of Thousand Oaks, California, was rescued by firefighters after attempting to climb down the chimney of a man she’d met online.
