Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are officially engaged, sources confirm. Although the Inquisitr speculated that this engagement was pretty much a done deal, friends close to Madden confirmed to People that the reports are true.
Friends of the Good Charlotte band member told the publication , “It happened a few nights ago.” According to the source, friends and family are very happy for the couple who began dating in May.
Diaz wasn’t exactly trying to hide that she was engaged either. She wore her engagement ring as she worked her way through JFK airport.
According to friends, Diaz’s mother approves and Benji actually asked for her mother’s permission before he proposed. “Her mom is a fan of him as well and gave her blessing. Since she started dating Benji, Cameron has changed in a very positive way. She can’t stop smiling and seems much happier.”

Back in August of 2014, the actress told Esquire that she’s not into motherhood.
“Not having a baby might really make things easier, but that doesn’t make it an easy decision. I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother. I have it much easier than any of them. That’s just what it is. Doesn’t mean life isn’t sometimes hard. I’m just what I am. I work on what I am. Right now, I think, things are good for me. I’ve done a lot. And I don’t care anymore.”

As for marriage, Diaz was famously against it and said that we aren’t naturally monogamous.
“A lot of people chase after it because they’ve been told, ‘This equals happiness.’ They chase it, they get it, and they find out, ‘Why did I think this was going to make me happy? I’m miserable!’ I don’t know if anyone is really naturally monogamous. We all have the same instincts as animals. But we live in a society where it’s been ingrained in us to do these things.”
