Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters in exactly one year from the time this article was written and most in the fandom cannot wait another day.

Director J.J. Abrams ended production on the epic start of the new trilogy last month and the post-production is in full swing at this time, getting the film ready to be screened in about a year’s time. The first teaser trailer made its official debut the Friday after Thanksgiving, to the delight of excited fans.

However, not much was revealed. Other than getting a first look at some of the new characters we will meet in Star Wars: The Force Awakens , fans didn’t really get anything with substance as it relates to the plot, which is in line with Abrams’ secretive ways.

Mark Hamill, who gave life to the iconic Luke Skywalker — introduced to the world by George Lucas in the original trilogy — confirmed the rumors that the plot will center on the newbies and the original cast members will be there in supporting roles, as previously reported by the Inquisitr .

Abrams decided to bring back Hamill, Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker (R2 D2) to reprise their roles, perhaps for the last time. Disney also hired a whole bunch of new, mostly obscure, actors to bring the next generation to life.

We know for sure that Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes place 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi . Other than that, it’s all speculation.

Disney also recently revealed the names of some of the characters in the new installment of the saga. We found out Daisy Ridley is Rey, John Boyega is Finn, Oscar Isaac plays Poe Dameron, the mysterious man in black who holds that new lightsaber (Adam Driver?) is Kylo Ren, and the adorable droid rolling atop a soccer ball is BB-8.

If this is not enough to get you excited, we found out that the narrator of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer is Andy Serkis , who had some interesting insights into the film. First of all, Serkis — who stars in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit as Gollum, in motion capture — clarified that, contrary to rumors, he is only playing one character “who has been through some stuff” in the film.

Serkis says Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy warned him he would be “all over” the trailer, even though he didn’t quite understand what that meant at the time. Star Wars: The Force Awakens flies into theaters exactly a year from today, December 18, 2015.
