David Fincher and Mara Rooney may be working on their version of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” but Noomi Rapace has already brought Lisbeth Salander to life in a series of Swedish films. Rapace, who is a big star in Sweden, is now finding an American audience with the new “Sherlock Holmes” movie and Ridley Scott’s next film, “Prometheus.”
Rapace starred in three movies based on the novels of Steig Larsson. CTV reports that it was her work as Lisbeth Salanders that landed her the role next to Robert Downey Jr. in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadow.”
Downey Jr. said:
“Then I saw (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) and thought, my God, how are we going to take all that she’s capable of and make this role worth her while and show a different side of her?”
“Sherlock Holmes” director Guy Ritchie was also impressed with Rapace’s work as Salander. Ritchie said:
“She can kick ass, that girl… There’s a very strong element of danger about her that she maintains like a wild animal, in a way.”

Rapace, Downey Jr., and Jude Law will hit theaters for the new “Sherlock Holmes” on December 16th.
The Hollywood version of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” will be starring Rooney Mara, which according to Rapace, is fine by her. Rapace said:
“I was done with her, and I felt like I left her when I was finished with the third movie. I couldn’t see any reason of kind of doing it again. I never want to repeat myself. I always want to move on and do new things. So no, it was not for me.”
