The family of Robin Williams is selling the late actor’s sprawling estate in Napa for a greatly reduced price.
The 639-acre property just listed for sale for $29.9 million, a reduction of more than $5 million from when the home was last listed in 2012. At the time, Robin Williams tried to sell the estate for $35 million, but it was eventually taken off the market.
As the Hollywood Reporter noted, the giant estate comes with rolling hills, olive trees, and a working vineyard.
Other details are as follows.
“The 20,000-square-foot, three-story main house has five bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a screening room and climate-controlled storage for wine and art. There is also a four-bedroom caretaker’s house nearby.
“Outdoor amenities include infinity and lap pools, a nine-stall horse barn, tennis court, hiking trails and a spring-fed pond for bass fishing.”
The sale will likely mean more money for Williams’ family, who has already received a reported $50 million from his estate.
Williams left his estate to his three children, Zachary, 31, Zelda, 25, and Cody, 22, thanks to a trust fund that the actor set up in 2011. He also left money to his wife, Susan Schneider, which Williams arranged in a prenuptial agreement.
“Fearful of being taken to the cleaners after two failed marriages, Williams also ensured that third wife Susan Schneider would be taken care of in a prenuptial agreement they signed before their 2011 wedding,” the New York Daily News reported.
Though Robin Williams had vast holdings, sources say he worried about money and was looking for a steady job. Williams even joked about the situation in a September 2013 interview, where he also mentioned the estate.
“The idea of having a steady job is appealing… There are bills to pay. My life has downsized, in a good way. I’m selling the ranch up in Napa. I just can’t afford it anymore,” Williams said.
The estate for sale held a special place for Robin Williams, who dubbed the land Villa Sorriso (Villa of Smiles).
