Not sure how long you should cook your Thanksgiving turkey ? Join thousands of others who will call the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line on Thursday to help solve their holiday cooking dilemmas. The hotline has been around for more than 30 years and according to Butterball , they answer more than 100,000 turkey-related questions during the holiday season.

Consumers who dial 1-800 BUTTERBALL will be connected with professionally trained turkey experts who can answer questions like “How many minutes per pound should I roast my turkey?” and “What’s the proper way to stuff a turkey?”

Not only will the hotline helpers give advice on how to thaw and roast a turkey, they also have Thanksgiving recipes available, including that oh-so-popular side dish, corn bread stuffing .

USA Today reports Butterball asks its Turkey Talk-Line employees to share the details of their most memorable calls every year. Some of the calls show how the company goes the distance when it comes to helping consumers.

“A young man hosting his first Thanksgiving called the Talk-Line while in a grocery store. A turkey expert stayed on the phone as he walked the aisle, advising him of all the items he’d need to buy.”

“A woman lost power one hour into cooking her turkey and called the Talk-Line. The hotline talked her through transferring her turkey to her gas grill to continue cooking.”

What’s the most popular question that is asked when people call the Butterball hotline? Foodie site Kitchn reports that the experts are asked over and over again, “My turkey is still frozen. What do I do?”

The answer to that question is simple — according to a previous report from the Inquisitr , you will need 24 hours of thawing time for every 4 to 5 pounds of turkey . Thawing your turkey last-minute? Fill a sink with cold water and allow 30 minutes of defrosting time for every pound of turkey.
