There have been persistent rumors that Zayn wants to leave One Direction, and a recent incident does seem to indicate that he’s causing trouble for the group. According to the Mirror , One Direction tour manager Paul Higgins has quit working for the world’s most successful boy band, and it’s all because of a falling out with Zayn Malik . It must have been quite the bust-up for Higgins to walk away from such a lucrative position.
Higgins has worked for the band since their formation, and he grew so close to the members of One Direction that they started calling him “Daddy.” There’s no word on what Zayn Malik did or said to make Higgins walks away, but there’s speculation that the manager’s exit had something to do with Zayn’s absence during One Direction’s Today show interview in the U.S. An insider revealed that Paul has been having problems with Malik for quite some time.
“There have been issues behind the scenes for a while, and they’ve finally come to a head leading to Paul’s relationship with the band coming to an end.”
Zayn Malik’s absence from the Today show interview had many fans worried that he was about to quit the group. His band mates covered for him by saying that he was suffering from a stomach bug, but perhaps Higgins got frustrated with Zayn because he knew that the singer wasn’t really sick.
During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Zayn Malik’s band mates also revealed that the shy singer has a bad habit that likely drove their former tour manager crazy — he often disappears for days without letting anyone know where he is.
The news of Paul Higgins’ exit was accompanied by a report that Zayn Malik is longing for more privacy. An unnamed source told the Sunday People that Malik is tired of the spotlight and that he’s ready to live a quiet life with future bride Perrie Edwards .
“Zayn is fed up with the whole fame thing. He loves singing and his fans but he just wants a quiet life now. He has become increasingly disappointed with the little amount of time he can spend with Perrie… Zayn appreciates how lucky he is, but life is about family for him and he is seeing too little of his loved ones.”
Malik’s hatred of being in the spotlight likely grew recently when talk show host Matt Lauer asked Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan if Zayn suffers from a substance abuse problem .
