Zayn Malik is reportedly on the verge of leaving One Direction, but sources say rumors that the 21-year-old is ready to pursue a solo career just aren’t true.
While the news has sent shockwaves through One Direction fans, it is not the first time that Malik is rumored to leaving the group. In the past, rumors of Malik’s exit ended up having little substance, and insiders say this is the case again.
The latest report claims that Malik had been offered $500,000 to record one song for a Bollywood movie, sparking reports that he could leave One Direction for a solo career .
This would not be the first at rumors pointed to Zayn Malik quitting One Direction. Reports emerged nearly two years ago that Malik was on the verge of walking away from the group after Australian stripper Courtney Webb claimed that Zayn had slept with her behind the back of his then-girlfriend Perrie Edwards.
At the time, a source told Celebuzz that Zayn Malik was getting too burned out by the spotlight the band members were constantly under, and wanted to take a step back.
The source said that “there is growing concern among the bosses that Zayn is on the brink at the moment.”
“He feels that the last six months have been his toughest yet in the band,” the source said. “Even before the cheating scandal, Zayn was steering clear of nights out with his bandmates and sometimes would skip media events. He has been quite low at several points when being away for key family celebrations. But his pals have cheered him up. People forget he is the shyest member.
“Naturally, he likes the adoration and his day job, but he is battling to cope with the pressure which comes with it.”
That rumor never panned out, and insiders say the current rumor is false as well.
“Zayn isn’t leaving the band, they aren’t breaking up. All is well,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com . “There is zero truth to the rumors of a breakup. Everyone can rest easy!”
Zayn Malik has not responded to the latest rumors that he is leaving One Direction, but his actions indicate that everything is fine. His bandmates are reportedly planning a trip to Las Vegas for his stag party, and on Tuesday he returned to One Direction after two days of missing promotions.
