The arrival of 11/11/11 – the 11th day of November 2011 – has proven a big boost for the wedding industry. Couples worldwide have been rushing to get married on the notable date. Some of the wedding 11/11/11 stories include:
- 11 couples will be getting married at Florida’s Walt Disney World Resort. Disney’s marketing arm insists the number is a happy coincidence, but it is an unusually busy day for the resort. Friday’s weddings will take place at a variety of locations around the resort, including Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, Epcot, Disney’s Boardwalk and Disney’s Polynesian Resort, but sadly not the Back to the Future ride (that’s still going, right?) - Nevada’s wedding chapels will also be raking it in today. One George Flint, Chapel of the Bells owner, said he has 31 weddings already lined up for Friday. “There’s a bit of a stampede,” he understates to the Reno Gazette-Journal. “We can use it because the wedding business has suffered tremendously the last few years.” [Source]
- It’s not just the U.S. where grooms and brides are tramping to the nearest chapel – The Times of India reports a colossal surge in demand for both wedding planners and obstetricians to schedule ceremonies and deliveries respectively. “It’s an attractive date, no doubt, but in numerology all digits of the date have to be taken into account; 11/11/11 is actually 11/11/2011,” says numerologist Vivek Chopra, spoiling everybody’s fun.
