Katherine Heigl’s reputation for being difficult in the entertainment industry has been rehashed over and over. Recently, it was brought up yet again when her former boss, ABC’s one woman show runner Shonda Rhimes , made certain comments about Heigl’s disposition when she was on Grey’s Anatomy , which was a show riddled by drama behind the scenes.

Now that Heigl is promoting her new NBC drama State of Affairs , she’s had to go on an apology tour to address her diva reputation that alludes her most recent projects.

Heigl made herself open to questions of all kinds when she took part in a Facebook Q&A. Of course, someone brought up the rude rumors, but the former Grey’s Anatomy star swallowed it and addressed it with humility, which isn’t a quality she’s had in spades in the past.

“Yeah I’ve heard those too… honestly I don’t think I am… nothing makes me more uncomfortable than confrontation or hurting someones feelings and I would never, ever, actively do so on purpose.”

She continued, “Of course just like any human being I’ve made mistakes and unwittingly or carelessly spoken or acted but I always try to make any wrong right.”

That said, Heigl stated that this doesn’t mean she’s going to be a person who one can easily walk all over, which is something that can easily happen to women in the industry.

“That doesn’t mean I won’t stand up for myself by drawing boundaries and asking to be treated kindly and respectfully but I don’t do that with any rude or unkind intentions just with the same strength and honestly I think every one of us is entitled to,” she said.

Although a lot of people knew about Heigl’s reputation, it got brought up right before she had to promote her new show in a shocking tell-all article. A scathing feature by the Hollywood Reporter posed the question if TV can save Heigl’s career, with multiple quotes by business insiders unloading on the actress and her mother. Despite comments by industry insiders taking Heigl and her mother up to task, executive producer Di Novi called the accusations “way exaggerated.”

In one of the first rounds of press Heigl addressed this article head on at the TCAs by saying, “I can only say that I certainly don’t see myself as being difficult, I would never intend to be difficult… If I have ever disappointed somebody, it was never intentional.”

Do you think Katherine Heigl deserves such harsh treatment for speaking her mind?
