Jennifer Aniston and her fiancee of more than two years, Leftovers star Justin Theroux , have finally set a wedding date, according to a magazine report published Wednesday. But the former Friends star and her 43-year-old hubby-to-be have been the subject of a flurry of recent rumors in the tabloids and online. Is this just another one? Or is the happy day finally on the horizon — for real?
“It’s really happening!” a source described as a “close friend” of Jennifer Aniston told gossip mag OK! “Jen is excited beyond belief. She says it will be the best day of her life.”
And it certainly will — if it happens. But according to the site Gossip Cop , which as its name implies monitors and attempts to correct phony rumors about celebs, says that OK! has “lied about the couple dozens of times.”
Among the stories debunked by Gossip Cop that have appeared in OK! regarding Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, “ones claiming Aniston and Theroux eloped to Mexico, got married in her agent’s office, and tied the knot at their home.”
Gossip Cop said it already shot down one rumor floated by OK! on Wednesday when the tabloid magazine ran a cover story saying, again, that Aniston and Theroux held a “secret wedding on a New York farm,” and that the 45-year-old Horrible Bosses star called that “the best day of my life.”
“None of these things happened,” Gossip Cop reported, “because OK! made up everything.”
Now OK! is apparently backtracking on the story that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are already married — reporting instead that the couple have at last finalized a wedding date but mum’s the word when it comes to exactly which date on the calendar to mark.
“If you try asking, she’ll change the subject,” the close friend tells OK! , adding that Aniston and Theroux want a small wedding, not a “huge, glitzy” soiree. But they prefer to “keep everybody guessing” about when the joyous occasion will arrive.
The report of a Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux wedding date, oddly enough, comes hot on the heels of a story in another tabloid claiming that the mega-couple were just hours away from getting hitched in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, when Theroux suddenly and coldly cast Aniston aside for a “younger woman.”
Gossip Cop called that one “ridiculous” and noted that the source, In Touch Magazine , had earlier allegedly concocted a “reprehensible and false” tale that Jennifer Aniston was pregnant with a baby fathered by Justin Theroux, but suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.
