The “NBA World Tour” a traveling exhibition circuit featuring some of the NBA’s top players has officially announced tour dates and locations.
The six-game tour will start on Sunday in San Juan, Puerto Rico and has been dubbed the “World All-Star Classic” as it will include Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Dwayne Wade and Kevin Durant.
Other players in contention for spots include Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Blake Griffin, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Carlos Boozer,Tyson Chandler, Steve Nash, Kevin Love, Rajon Rondo and Chris Kaman.
NBA MVP Derrick Rose was originally expected to take part in the exhibition games but pulled out to play in the USO-backed exhibition on Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.
Russell Westbrook also recently pulled out of contention for all global exhibition games although he would not comment on why he is not playing basketball outside of the United States.
Tickets for the Puerto Rico game at Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum will go on sale Wednesday afternoon.
After the exhibition in Puerto Rico the All-Stars will move onto O2 Arena in London for games on November 1 and 3 followed by an exhibition on Nov. 6 in Macau in the Cotai Arena at the Venetian Hotel. Those games will be preceded by 2 games in Australia on Nov. 8 and 9 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
Atlanta businessman Calvin Dargen has offered to pay each player in the vicinity of six figures to $1 million per game and many players will donate chunks of their salary to charity.
