Michael Keaton has been receiving a lot of Oscar buzz recently from his performance in the upcoming film, Birdman – and it scares him.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Michael Keaton was able to openly discuss a few different topics that are on the minds of Michael Keaton fans around the world. However, he mentioned that he was “a little spooked” by the idea of his new film, Birdman , generating Oscar buzz – especially after a recent conversation with one of his close friends.

“I get a little spooked. I was talking to my friend the other day — I’m a big baseball fan and my friend is too — and he says, ‘You know this movie is a no-hitter right?’”

After acting for nearly four decades, the average person might think that Michael Keaton would not have this type of reaction to the possibility of finally getting some recognition in the Oscar spotlight. However, Keaton went on to explain why he is “stupidly transparent” when it comes to his work.

“I’m stupidly transparent. I just do the f—ing job. Keep my head down, go to work and deal with the other part later. So I guess we’re going to deal with the other part now! But I’m not dumb.”

Michael Keaton continued by stating that it would be “great” and “tremendous” if he received that type of recognition for his work on Birdman , a film that he openly admitted he loves watching. However, even if it doesn’t happen, Michael stated that it would not stop him from doing what he does – even if what he is doing is “sometimes not very good.”

“I’ll just keep doing what I do, which is sometimes kind of good, sometimes not very good, sometimes stupid, and sometimes really pretty good.”

Throughout his lengthy career and extensive filmography, one of the most memorable roles that most people recognize Michael Keaton for is Batman in the 1989 and 1992 films, Batman and Batman Returns .

When the original announcement of Michael Keaton playing the Caped Crusader was made back in the late 1980s, there was a lot of negative backlash from loyal Batman fans and movie critics — until they saw him do it.

Perhaps when Birdman is released on October 17, it will be a commercial and critical success that gets Michael Keaton at least nominated for an Oscar at next year’s ceremony.
