As many Real Housewives of Atlanta fans expected, Phaedra Parks is divorcing Apollo Nida. Though the couple has two children together, the marriage has been on the rocks for a bit and it seems that Nida’s stint in prison sealed the deal. The RHOA star is now taking steps to officially end her marriage and move on.
According to People , Phaedra Parks is working with an attorney to move forward on divorcing Apollo Nida. RHOA fans have watched the drama play out between the two on-screen, and according to the season 7 Real Housewives of Atlanta spoiler preview things will get even uglier in the episodes to come.
As RHOA viewers know, Nida entered a guilty plea to charges of identity theft and bank fraud last May. As TMZ reported in September, Apollo was allegedly headed to the prison to begin his 8-year sentence when he instead went to confront Phaedra in person.
It seems that Nida was angry that Parks wasn’t going to put money into his prison account as he served his sentence, and she had also said she wouldn’t take their kids to go see him. He allegedly forced his way into the house and started screaming at her, all the while demanding items and putting things into a bag.
Naturally this was all caught on camera, and this is surely the footage involving the police seen in the Real Housewives of Atlanta spoiler preview. Given all of that drama, it can’t come as much of a surprise to Nida or RHOA fans that Parks has started working toward a divorce. Though some viewers had wondered for quite some time when she would cut him loose and move on, it seems she had to do it on her own terms with her own timing.
Just why did Phaedra wait until Apollo was actually in prison to initiate divorce proceedings? According to Hollywood Life , it’s because Parks was flat-out scared of what Nida would do if he was given divorce papers while he was still out.
Though Phaedra’s rep says that she is working on amicably ending her marriage to Apollo, things haven’t seemed all that amicable leading up to this point. That said, RHOA fans seemingly overwhelmingly support her and believe it’s time she make this move.
Season 7 of Real Housewives of Atlanta starring NeNe Leakes , Claudia Jordan, Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks and the rest premieres on Bravo on November 9. It certainly seems that it’s going to be a very wild ride this season, and the troubles with Apollo Nida are only one of many dramatic storylines ahead.
