On September 10, a 21-year-old woman was reportedly beaten by three teenaged girls on a subway train in the Brooklyn area of New York City. According to DNAinfo , the young woman named “Amanda” revealed the girls the incident all began with a simple request.
She reportedly asked the girls, who looked to be approximately 14- to 15-years-old, to refrain from using profane language on the subway. Amanda explained the group of girls were quite rambunctious from the time they stepped onto the train. She also stated they were even bragging about another physical altercation they’d just been involved in.
Needless to say, their language was quite offensive, so she simply asked that they respect the other passengers and children on the train by not cursing. Apparently, they felt some kind of way about her voicing her opinion. When the train stopped at Seventh Avenue G Train stop in Park Slope, things reportedly took a shocking turn.
On Monday, September 22, the woman, who has chosen not to reveal her last name, shared a detailed account of the brutal incident with CBS New York . She personally felt she voiced her concerns in a mature manner. Unfortunately, the group of girls felt otherwise. Amanda revealed how the incident quickly escalated and how she was knocked to the ground and kicked repeatedly.
“I said, ‘You guys should be more respectful for your age. There’s a bunch of children on the train right here, and that’s unacceptable,’” Amanda said. “They pushed me out of the train at my stop. They shoved me. They pushed me out of the train at my stop. They shoved me. My hearing; my vision went out. I couldn’t move. And they were relentless. Like they were just like trying — if they had had time, I really believe that they would’ve killed me.”
As a result of the brutal attack, Amanda suffered head trauma, a concussion and bruises on both knees. One of the teenage girls has reportedly been arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct. Although the other two girls have not been charged, Amanda expressed she’s just glad that she’s okay.
“I’m grateful I’m OK, but I realize sometimes you do need to keep your mouth shut on the subway when things are going to escalate,” Amanda said.
