Apple fans around the world will be donning black turtlenecks and blue jeans tomorrow, October 14th, for Steve Jobs Day 2011. According to the organizers of the event, Steve Jobs Day will give Apple fans one last chance to say goodbye to their hero.

Biz Journal reports the project was set up by a group of workers at Atlanta digital advertising studio Studiocom Inc. on September 23rd as a way for people to say thank you to Steve Jobs for the technology that he has brought into the world. But when the Apple creator passed away on October 5th, supporters urged the organizers to create a special day to honor Mr. Jobs.

The Steve Jobs Day website reads:

“We launched this project on September 23, 2011 as a thank you to a man whose work has impacted so many lives. In light of his passing, we hope that Steve Jobs Day will be celebrated as a tribute to his life and the legacy he leaves behind.”

To participate in Steve Jobs Day, organizers are encouraging people to talk about Steve and to dress like Steve. So strap on your black turtlenecks and tweet about your favorite Apple products to #stevejobsday or use Facebook to talk about how Apple has influenced your life. Organizers are also encouraging people to take pictures of themselves in costumes and to use the photos for their Facebook profile pics.

Stevejobsday2011.com will keep track of all the updates.

The Cult of Mac reports that there will also be several meet-ups around the world for people to talk about Steve Jobs and to donate to cancer research. (You can see a list of meet-ups here.)

Do you think people are over-reacting to Steve Jobs death? The Steve Jobs Day 2011 Facebook page already has more than 2,500 members. Will you be wearing a black turtleneck tomorrow?
