Jessica Simpson is basking in the light of newlywed bliss.

Two months after her and Eric Johnson’s wedding, the singer-turned-designer appeared on the Today show with Matt Lauer, where she opened up about being “addicted” to her new husband and revealed plans to change her last name.

“I just think we’re a little bit more addicted to each other. I just think there is a level of love that has reached the highest of high,” Simpson explained to Lauer of what’s changed between her and Johnson since they wed. “Eric and I have both been married before, so we took our time finding the right person. When we found each other, we knew it had to be forever.”

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson began dating in May 2010. In November of that same year, the pair became engaged. Although they initially planned to wed before children, they were quickly surprised by news of Simpson’s first pregnancy, and on May 1, 2012, welcomed daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson. One year later, their son, Ace Knute Johnson, arrived.

Despite their wedding plans being put on hold more than once, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson made it down the aisle on July 5, 2014 in Montecito, Calif.

In the months leading up to the ceremony, Simpson lost a ton of weight . After struggling with the baby weight following the birth of her daughter, Simpson enlisted the help of Weight Watchers. However, months later, Simpson became pregnant again and her weight loss efforts were sidelined. Still, Simpson was determined to look her best in her wedding dress and dedicated herself to a healthy diet and exercise plan, which ultimately led to an impressive transformation.

Speaking of the weight loss process, Simpson admitted to being hurt by her critic’s harsh comments at times. “I’m not saying they didn’t hurt,” she said. “I have feelings and hormones. I got emotional about it at times, but if anything I just kind of wanted to be a champion for other women and say, ‘We can do this.’”

Also during her Today show interview, Jessica Simpson revealed she would soon be changing her last name. “When I renew my license that’s very expired, I’m going to be Jessica Johnson,” she said.

Last week, while speaking to Ryan Seacrest, Jessica Simpson confirmed she and Johnson wouldn’t be having any more children — at least not on purpose. “We are done,” she said . “I say we’re done. I don’t want to accidentally get pregnant one day and then that poor kid feels like it wasn’t meant to be or something. We’ve got the girl and we’ve got the boy.”
