A robbery of a Pizza Hut in Vineland, New Jersey is being investigated by the police.

The Daily Journal has reported that early Saturday morning as two employees of the Vineland Pizza Hut in South Jersey were locking up, they were held up by masked robbers armed with a handgun and a foot-long knife.

The workers were exiting through a door on the east side of the Pizza Hut when they were pushed back into the restaurant, led to an office and ordered to open the safe. The robbers then took an undisclosed amount of money, which they put in a trash can bag found in the office trash can.

According to police reports, the employees were locked in the walk-in cooler of the Pizza Hut while the men escaped after they robbed the store.

When the employees were able to escape from the refrigerator at about 12:20 a.m. Saturday morning, they reported the incident to the police.

The South Jersey Times gave a description of the robbers.

“One of the suspects was described as a male of indeterminate race, approximately 6-feet, 2-inches tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black ski mask and black gloves. The other suspect was described as a male of indeterminate race, approximately 5-feet, 8-inches tall, likewise wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black ski mask and black gloves.”

The robbery of the Pizza Hut in Vineland, which is located in Cumberland County, comes a few days after a man lost $6,500 in the same Pizza Hut.

NBC40.net broke the news that on Wednesday afternoon at about 4:30 p.m. the man realized that the cash had fallen from his pocket and reported to the police that someone stole it.

The police were able to track down the suspect, a 33-year old Millville woman.

According to authorities, the suspect told police she intended to return the money on Thursday, however, when the money was confiscated, it totalled only $6,090. She was charged for theft of lost or mislaid property and released on a summons.

The police in Vineland have been kept busy with several cases of theft and robbery. On Friday, just before the Pizza Hut was robbed, the police were investigating a case of carjacking.

A woman was placing her groceries in her vehicle when an unknown man jumped into the driver’s seat of the car and drove off.

The police are yet to come up with any leads on this carjacking or the Pizza Hut robbery which took place on Saturday.
