In a historic vote, Scotland decided to stay as part of the U.K. by a majority of 55 percent. The unprecedented referendum had many British citizens, including Queen Elizabeth and Prime Minister David Cameron , worried that if the country decided to break away it would affect the Commonwealth in a negative way.
Now those who wanted to remain as part of the U.K. are breathing a sigh of relief, while the movement that started it all, has to put their grievances aside and hope that the mother land will take them seriously.

Cool heads prevailed even though tensions were high on both sides, but in the end Scotland decided to vote “no” and stay in the U.K. The referendum is reported to have been attended by 86 percent of residents , an unprecedented turnout by all accounts, and the Scottish Prime Minister has resigned following the result.
