When the New York Giants head into Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles they will be without wide receiver Mario Manningham who will sit out after suffering a concussion during the first half of play against the St. Louis Rams on Monday night.
Manningham was originally listed as “doubtful” but was downgraded to “out” after he failed to travel with the team to Philadelphia on Saturday.
Also missing the game is Osi Umenyiora who was declared a loss on Friday as he continues to recover from mid-August arthroscopic knee surgery. The Giants are also without cornerback Prince Amukamara who is nursing a foot injury. Already out for the season is wide receiver Domenik Hixon who tore his anterior cruciate ligament
In the meantime Giants star quarterback Eli Manning will be forced to play without his second and third best receivers against a tough seconardy that features Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
Likely starting in Manningham’s place is Victor Cruz who will play opposite of Hakeem Nicks.

Cruz and Brandon Stokley also could see time in the slot with Devin Thomas perhaps seeing more snaps.
In the meantime on Friday the Giants signed Michael Clayton to help on special teams and to add some depth to their roster.
