Arnold Schwarzenegger, bodybuilder, actor, politician, and pointer, has penned a deal to write a memoir. Whatever you think of Ah-nuld – and let it be said here I am no great fan – the man has had a storied life that should ensure an entertaining read.
With crushing inevitability, the autobiography will be titled Total Recall , or Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story to give it its full title. It’s due out in October 2012, with Simon & Schuster manning the presses. The former California governor – haha , sorry, that still gets me – will document the end of his 25-year marriage to Maria Shriver.
The 64-year-old won’t dwell on Shriver, however: he also plans to share stories about his childhood in Austria, as well as his multiple careers in bodybuilding, movies, and politics.
Speaking to People , a Schwarzenegger spokesman said:
“He has been keeping notes and working on the book for over a year. He didn’t want to write his autobiography while he was governor.”
Schwarzenegger’s acting career has picked up again since he left politics. Indeed, he plans to write his memoir while shooting scenes for his next film, The Expendables 2 , a movie with every knuckle-headed Hollywood action hero from the last 30 years.
For his book, Schwarzenegger will be working with writer Peter Petre, a man who has collaborated on big sellers by former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf. And obviously, publisher Simon & Schuster is excited . S & S’s Jonathan Karp wheezed:
“Truly, Arnold is one of the most fascinating figures of our time, and one of the greatest success stories in the world. Nobody has a life story even close to his.”
