Its Madden season as evident by the new video game releases for the week of August 24. The annual football franchise releases its latest chapter ahead of the official start of the NFL season and the traditional signal for the end of the summer drought with the giant white sphere of Destiny slowly rising in the distance.
Some of the more notable releases this week include The Fall , the first game from developer Over The Moon located in Vancouver, Canada. Originally released in May for PC, the game is making its debut on the Nintendo eShop for $9.99. A Kickstarter funded game, the story revolves around ARID, an artificial intelligence on-board a futuristic combat suit who is piloting the suit containing an injured operator to medical attention. The game has a dark, and brooding atmosphere and various genre influences including platforming, shooters, and puzzle solving.
Continuing the trend with female protagonists, and the deluge of games from PlayStation, another new video game release for the week is inFamous First Light , featuring the feisty, neon-powered Abigail “Fetch” Walker from inFamous Second Son. The game is a standalone experience and does not require the original game in order to experience this prequel story to Second Son .
