While many celebrities have participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, there’s one celebrity that took his own spin on it. Sir Patrick Stewart has decided to do a dignified ice bucket challenge.
As for dumping a bucket of ice over his head, Sir Patrick Stewart went the alternative route. Even so, the actor still managed to get in on the cause.
Filming himself sitting down in a hotel room, Patrick Stewart, famous for Star Trek and X-Men roles, decides to calmly write out a check for ALS as he sits next to a standard ice bucket. Stewart then forks out some ice into his glass, pours some bottle of liquor into the glass and drinks it in one shot.
The only thing Sir Patrick Stewart forgot to do was nominate three people, but we guess we can forgive him for that.

This isn’t the first time Sir Patrick has given his earnings to a good cause. Some of the foundations he supports are Amnesty International, Children of Peace, Dignity in Dying, and The Make A Difference Trust.
The last time Stewart received attention for doing a good deed it was supporting Refuge. In an essay for The Guardian , Patrick Stewart wrote about his own personal family life and why he supports the safe house for abused women and children.
“When Refuge, the national domestic violence charity, asked me to become a patron, I accepted without hesitation. I accepted for my mother. As a child, there was little I could do to help her. But now I can give support and encouragement to women who live in the same sort of fear that she did.”
He continued:
“My mother had no escape route. There were no refuges she could run to; no helplines to call; no advocates to speak out for her. No one came to help, even though everyone knew what was happening behind out closed doors.”
