Burger King works very hard trying to be at the forefront of the ever-changing fast food market. They’re bringing back a popular item for another run.
Burger King will be reintroducing their Chicken Fries, thanks in part to social media, reports AdWeek . The original run of Chicken Fries was from 2005 until January of 2012. Then, the dark times came. Before they brought the chicken fries back, they released in social media circles that Chicken fries were indeed back. Burger King was receiving 380 tweets per minute, most with high praise for bringing back those golden chicken sticks of enjoyment.
This reintroduction happens all the time, and it’s quite effective. It would compare to McDonald’s reintroducing the McRib every so often. It’s a way for Quick Serve Restaurants (QSR’s) to excite customers who get bored of the same old thing every day. The QSR brings back a product that people really liked, sell it for a bit longer. McDonald’s also scores high with its reintroduction of the Shamrock Shake, and Kentucky Fried Chicken gets points with its Double Down sandwich.
“Over time, people forget what it is you have in the restaurant,” said Eric Hirschhorn, CMO of Burger King , explaining the “bring back” strategy employed by so many QSRs. “So you bring things back for a period of time, and then you make business decisions based on that.”
But, what exactly are Chicken Fries? Burger King gives us this descrpition; “Made with premium white meat chicken, our Chicken Fries are coated in a light crispy breading seasoned with savory spices and herbs. Chicken Fries are shaped like fries and are perfect to dip in any of our delicious dipping sauces. Choose from BBQ, Honey Mustard, Ranch, Zesty, Buffalo and Sweet & Sour.” The crayon-sized Chicken Fingers price at about $3.29 for a box of nine fingers, not including tax.
Just how popular are these strings of delight? Reality World TV is reporting that Scott Disick, longtime boyfriend of Khloe Kardashian, purchased 45 boxes of the treasures, for a haul totalling 405 Chicken Fries and a bill for $205.28. Disick may have had an inside scoop, because he posted a picture of his bounty on August 7, when the Chicken Fries did not become available until August 11. Kim Kardashian does own 10 Burger King restaurants, a wedding gift from Kanye West.
If you want to enjoy the return of the Chicken Fries, you better do it sooner than later. Burger King has told everyone that they are here for only a limited time. Until they come back again, of course.
