A 16-year-old boy shot and killed his parents in Frisco, Texas Monday morning. Police responded to a call around 2 am after shots were fired at a home near Wester Middle School.

Ryan Callens, 48 and Maria Elena Callens, 49, were dead at the scene, according to Frisco Police Officer Chad LaPrelle.

The teen, who isn’t identified due to his age, is currently at Collin County Juvenile Justice Center in McKinney; he’s charged with two counts of murder.

In a report by Dallas News , the couple had five children. One just graduated college while two are still attending, and their daughter is in high school.

Neighbors all say that the teen’s parents were strict with him. He wasn’t allowed to drink soda, internet time was limited, and he was expected to be home by a certain time.

One of the boy’s friends, Jonathan Marcum, said if he didn’t follow rules, there were consequences.

“He was very sheltered,”said Jonathon, 15. “If he broke the guidelines, he got punished.”

William Castillo, another friend of the teen’s, said the boy’s parents didn’t like him watching rated-R movies and if they were PG-13 they had a service edit out the “bad” scenes.

“They were really uptight on him,” William says.

The teen would play ultimate Frisbee with Williams sometimes. Another friend, Natalie Benitez, 15, says the teen was home schooled and preferred it that way.

“He’s, like, so against school,” says Natalie. “He’s, like, ‘I would never go back.’”

Natalie’s mother, Edith Benitez, says that the teen was a “really good kid” and the news he allegedly killed his parent s is “shocking.”

Mrs. Benitez’s granddaughter, Nikki Williston, recalls the boy loving sports like cricket and soccer. She says he was “competitive,” wanting to win whatever challenges they were playing. She adds that “he had a very good heart.”

In an updated report by NBC 5 News , Ryan and Maria Elena Callens were shot with a rifle. Mrs. Callens had multiple gunshot wounds to her head and arm.

The boy’s sister dialed police and while she was on the phone, she was overheard saying to her brother, “What do you mean you did it?” The boy admitted, “I did it.” When she asked him if it was his plan to do what he did, the teen didn’t answer.

Authorities haven’t revealed an motive for why the boy allegedly killed his parents. The teen will be detained 10 days while the murder investigation is conducted.
