On Monday a Sports Illustrated reporter quoted Tiki Barber’s agent Mark Lepselter who said he was “flabbergasted that Tiki has not had an opportunity with any team, especially when rosters were at 90 players this year. I certainly thought some team would be intrigued to see what he had left in the tank.” The report then added “I hear he’s devastated that no team gave him a chance.” There’s only one problem, Lepselter says he never used those words.

Speaking to the New York Post Lepselter said:

“That is not correct, I never said he was devastated. That term never came out of my mouth.”

Lepselter went on to tell the Post:

“This is the last time I am speaking on this subject in any way, shape or form.” Lepselter said. “You can’t worry about the things in life you can’t control and Tiki has moved forward accordingly.”

Barber left the NFL in 2006 and this year the 36-year-old running back attempted to make a comeback, reverting to his old tried and tested workout regime, while holding a workout with the Dolphins. Barber was never offered a contract, although he could be picked up when the first games of the season arrive, a time when contracts are no longer guaranteed.

Do you think Tiki Barber can still have an effective running back career in the NFL at 36 years old and after a five year break from the league?
