Beyoncé is on her way out, according to the New York Post . Sources tell the paper that Beyoncé has been apartment hunting in New York City by herself.
Apparently, Beyoncé looked at a $21.5 million penthouse in Chelsea, New York early last month – just weeks after the videotaped altercation between her sister, Solange Knowles, and her husband in an elevator became public.
A source said about Beyoncé’s behavior while looking at the apartment: “She was very quiet, as if she was looking on the sly.” Sources for the New York Post also said that Beyoncé looking at apartments alone throws a lot of fuel on the fire as to their breakup, as in the past, Jay has always taken charge in their joint real estate ventures. The source also added that Jay would never want to leave the couple’s 8,309 square foot apartment in Tribeca – almost double the size of the one Beyoncé looked at in Chelsea.
The source added,
“I can say with certainty that Jay is not downsizing.”
The source added that they were certain that the apartment is indeed for Beyoncé and her daughter, Blue Ivy.
“There’s no way a 20 million dollar apartment is for her mother or her sister. That would be wildly unlikely.”
Although most reports say it’s not a question of “if” the marriage is over, but rather, “when.” A source expressed an opinion to Page Six that the couple understands their position in the hip-hop world as business moguls.
“There’s still something there even though it’s not going to last. Business is always part of the equation. They know they’re the kind and queen of hip-hop – and really, all of music. Neither wants to lose that.”
Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s On the Run tour is exptectd to gross over $100 million dollars, and that’s money that no one is willing to throw away. According to Forbes Magazine , the combined net worth of the couple is almost a billion dollars. As such, insiders are saying that the couple isn’t planning to separate until the tour is over.
“They are trying to figure out a way to split without divorcing,” a source said. “This is a huge concert tour and they’ve already gotten most of the money from the promoters upfront.”
The breakup rumor mill started after that altercation in the Manhattan elevator. Reportedly, Solange thought that Jay was going to meet Rihanna later that night and she confronted him on it.
As to Beyoncé’s apartment hunting? When Beyoncé’s publicist was asked about it, she promptly hung up.
