Portia de Rossi quietly entered rehab earlier this year, and it appears her efforts to straighten her life are working as sources say she and Ellen DeGeneres are repairing their troubled marriage.
There have been rumors circulating for months that Ellen and Portia were headed for divorce. Sources said Ellen was exerting strict control over Portia and her career, that Portia was pining for a child while Ellen remained dead set against it, and reports of infidelity from both sides.
While the divorce rumors were in full tilt, Portia quietly checked herself into rehab in May.
Some outlets noted that during this time frame, Ellen DeGeneres was spotted on a lunch date with a mystery brunette. Some sources speculated that the move was intentional — Ellen dined in full view of paparazzi — while other sources said Ellen was unfaithful while Portia was in a Malibu rehab facility.
In a July 4 post, CelebDirtyLaundry noted that Ellen continued to see other women while Portia was seeking help:
“We’re also hearing from several other sources that Ellen may have continued cheating on Portia even after Portia was admitted to rehab. Cold? Sure, but it’s Hollywood. Ellen could have stayed supportive of Portia, but at the same time, still wanted to continue what she was doing.”
But others said it was Ellen who pushed Portia into rehab in order to help her partner get her life back on track .
“They got into an ugly fight…Portia hadn’t been happy for a while and was drinking and isolating [herself], and Ellen confronted her,” a source told InTouch magazine.
Now sources say the efforts have worked, and that Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres are back on the road to a healthy marriage.
“They’ve had their ups and downs…Portia has been very outspoken about previous issues, like her eating disorder, and she’s good at seeking help when she needs to,” a source told People magazine . “They’ve worked out difficulties in the past, and no doubt they’re trying to work out any problems right now.”
But while sources say Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are no longer headed toward divorce, the couple is remaining silent on the newest round of rumors.
