Jay Z has been embroiled in an alleged cheating scandal, and now his rumored mistress is feeling the heat.
Rumors emerged last month that the rapper has been carrying on a years-long affair with R&B singer Mya, which started after the two collaborated in the early 2000s. This report is the latest bit of trouble between Jay Z and Beyonce, who have seen their marriage beset with rumors of infidelity.
Now the reports are beginning to plague Mya in her private life. The singer’s manager said she was confronted in church by someone demanding to know if the Jay Z cheating rumors were true.
“Someone walked up and asked her about it while she was accepting an award at a church,” her manager told the New York Daily News . “At first it was just ridiculous, but then some die-hard fans start making threats. She really couldn’t care less about the rumors, but she wanted to set the record straight when the after-effects started to become troublesome.”
Mya has also gone on the record saying the rumors of a long affair with Jay Z are untrue .
“Never did, never was, never will. Illegitimate thirsty sources with no facts and that’s the ‘media’ for you – especially today,” she wrote on Instagram last week. “I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage way too much for nonsense.”
Mya went on to say that the rumors are “crafted for ratings & numbers.” She said those spreading the rumors are “miserable, unhappy people” who need “someone to judge to deter the attention away from their own misery and feel better about their miserable lives.”
“If they did it to Jesus, they’ll do it to anyone. God Bless,” she wrote.
The alleged affair with Mya is not the only cheating accusation being leveled against Jay Z. He is also rumored to have had affairs with singers Rihanna and Rita Ora. Though neither he nor Beyonce have spoken publicly on the cheating or divorce rumors, Beyonce did cause a stir when she changed lyrics to her song “Resentment” at a recent concert in a way that made many think she was calling out Jay Z.
