Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II, and currently fifth in line for the throne, has split up from model Monika Jakisic after only five months of dating.
Us Weekly has an exclusive report on the breakup of the relationship between 54-year-old Andrew, sometimes known as the “Playboy Prince,” and 33-year-old Monika, dubbed the “Croation Sensation.”
Monika, who has been frequently photographed in the skimpiest of bikinis, had an on-off (!) relationship with 52-year-old George Clooney from 2004, until shortly before hooking up with Prince Andrew earlier this year. Obviously she prefers mature men – sort of like a father figure?
Andrew – full title, ” The Duke of York” – doesn’t appear to have taken the breakup too hard, as he was spotted with Canadian lingerie model Dara Tomanovich at the Royal Ascot event last week. Actually, Dara, 45, is a little older than Andrew is used to, but perhaps they can communicate on the same wavelength. Anyway, for him, the transition from bikinis to lingerie is not such a great leap.
At one point, the Royal Family were getting very nervous after Jakisic posted a picture of a diamond ring on top of a £600 restaurant bill. A spokesperson for the Prince quickly told the Daily Mail, “I can confirm the Duke of York is not engaged to Monika Jakisic.
Andrew was once married to Sara Ferguson, but the marriage foundered after 10 years, and the couple divorced in 1996. They had two daughters together, the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. There have been rumors from time to time that the couple might reconcile, but perhaps Andrew enjoys his jetting around the world too much as Britain’s “Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.” Now, THAT’S what you call a job title
As for George Clooney, well he also didn’t dwell too long on losing Monika, and is now engaged to a British Lawyer, 35-year-old Amal Alamuddin.
And Monika? Well, having missed out on, probably, the most eligible bachelor in Hollywood, AND a Royal Prince – who can she go for next?
