The Chicago Bears are not on of my favorite NFL teams. For a while now they have been mismanaged, granted they have won a Super Bowl recently, are the reining NFC North Champs and advanced all the way to the NFC Title game a year ago. I count that as a fluke as this team has made a lot of questionable moves, especially the trading away of high round draft picks. This shortened free agent singing period has also brought some good some bad, and for me it has me scratching my head a bit.
The decision to part ways with Center Olin Kreutz doesn’t seem to make a ton of sense to me. This is a team that gave up 56 sacks a year ago, and Kreutz has been oft injure in recent NFL seasons. However, we can effectively argue that he was one of their better O linemen, if not the best. He was also a leader in the clubhouse and many of his teammates took to their twitter accounts and live TV to say so. This is not a popular move, and one that makes me think the Bears are at it again. Granted they are my hometown divisional rival in each of the four major sports, so I want them to do poorly.
On the positive side of things they did bring in a pair of former Dallas Cowboys in WR Roy Williams and RB Marion Barber. The first move is more significant since Offensive Coordinator Mike Martz had Williams in Detroit and the two got the best out of one another. Barber is a perfect guy to run in this division, and I like both of these moves a lot.
