MIT graduate student, Kaitlin Goldstein, has been found dead. The 28-year-old went missing in India, and after about a week, her body was found in a remote area of the country. According to NewsOXY , Goldstein’s body was found at the bottom of a cliff — in a deep gorge. Investigators believe that she had been running on a path and that she slipped on some loose rocks, plummeting several hundred feet to her death.

According to the report, Goldstein’s parents flew to India after they called her several times and their calls went unanswered and unreturned. Kaitlin’s maid reached out to the Goldsteins and told them that she didn’t return from her morning jog. The search for Kaitlin was centered around a mountain trail, which was her last known whereabouts (via The Indian Express ).

When MIT graduate student, Kaitlin Goldstein, was found dead, it was devastating. Obviously this was her family’s worst nightmare. The U.S. State Department and the FBI were involved in the search, all hoping that they would find Kaitlin “Kate” Goldstein alive. Her brother feared that his sister may have been kidnapped. While that would have been awful, it would have been okay if Kate was found alive. That, however, wasn’t the case at all.

According to the report:

“Kate was working on a doctorate in architecture at MIT in Cambridge. She arrived in India on June 7 to take part in a workshop on energy and development on the campus of the Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh near the city of Leh.”

MIT graduate student Kaitlin Goldstein was found dead just two weeks after she arrived in India. According to dbTechno , Kate was working toward obtaining her doctorate degree in architecture . The Providence, Rhode Island native loved running and did so competitively. If she did indeed fall to her death while out for a jog, the story would (sadly) make sense. That doesn’t necessarily mean that everything is cut and dry. A full investigation is still under way.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Kate “was passionate about helping developing countries find energy solutions.” She was living her dream and experiencing life in ways that not many people get to experience. Sadly, her life ended tragically in the blink an eye — a misstep in her stride.

Unfortunately, Kate’s trip to India ended before it really began. Her body will presumably be flown back to the U.S. for funeral and burial services.
